The “tax stamps” system on tobacco and its products is a regulatory program implemented by the tax authority and imposed on tobacco manufacturers and interested parties in order to enhance compliance with international standards in the import and trade of tobacco in the Sultanate of Oman.

The interview discussed the Digital Tax Stamp system that allows custom digital tags to be placed on cigarette packs to monitor and track their movement from the factory to the consumers. These tags help enforce regulations aimed at reducing the illicit tobacco trade. The distinctive marking system also requires manufacturers to apply certain symbols and marks (seals) with a high degree of security to all packs of cigarettes and other tobacco products.
