The Tax Authority is committed to providing inclusive and accessible digital services in accordance with the latest version of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) at Level AA. This commitment supports the national digital transformation efforts in the Sultanate of Oman and aligns with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040. We design our websites, applications, and digital content to function seamlessly with accessibility features embedded in the latest versions of major operating systems, web browsers, and screen readers. We also support the use of widely adopted screen readers such as NVDA and JAWS, available on the latest versions of the Windows operating system. We recognize that some existing content and features may not yet fully meet all requirements of the latest WCAG Level AA guidelines. However, we are continuously working to enhance accessibility across our platforms as part of our national program, ensuring a fair and inclusive digital experience for all users.

The Tax Authority provides smart accessibility tools including screen reader support, high contrast mode, and improved navigation for all users.
3. Website Accessibility Tools
Contrast
The Page Contrast feature within the accessibility toolkit allows users to adjust the contrast between text and the background, significantly improving content readability. This feature is specifically designed to assist individuals with low vision or color blindness to navigate the website more effectively
Cursor
The Cursor feature allows users to enlarge the mouse pointer or change its color and shape to make it more visible on the screen. This feature is designed to help users - particularly those with visual impairments - locate the cursor and navigate through pages easily.
Readable Font
This feature allows users to switch the website’s typeface to a clearer, more legible font. It is specifically designed to provide a comfortable reading experience for users with reading difficulties or dyslexia.
Saturation Control
The Saturation Control feature enables users to adjust the intensity of colors on the page by allowing users to decrease color vibrancy or increase clarity. This tool enhances readability and significantly reduces eye strain.
Letter Spacing
This tool allows users to increase the space between individual letters within the text. Expanding the tracking (letter spacing) improves word clarity and facilitates the reading.
Word Spacing
The Word Spacing feature allows for increased intervals between words. This ensures that each word is distinct, providing a smoother and more accessible reading flow for all users.
Line Spacing
This feature allows users to increase the vertical distance between lines of text. Increasing line height facilitates easier tracking of sentences and minimizes visual distraction for the reader.
Bigger Text
The Bigger Text feature enables users to increase the font size across the entire page. This is a critical tool for users with visual impairments (low vision), because it allows them to read the content easily.
Highlight Links
The Highlight Links feature makes hyperlinks on the page more prominent by changing their color or adding a distinct visual indicator (such as an underline). This helps users quickly identify clickable elements and navigate the site more efficiently.
Pause Animation
This feature allows users to disable moving elements or animations on the page. It is designed to assist users with Attention Deficit Disorders (ADHD) or motion sensitivity issues to browse the website comfortably without visual triggers or distractions.
Text Align
The text alignment feature in accessibility tools allows for changing the alignment of text on the page (right, left, center) to make the reading easier. This feature helps users follow content smoothly and reduces eye strain.
Page structure
The page map feature displays the structure of the page, including its headings and links, in an organized way. This feature helps users navigate quickly and understand the page content without the need for extensive scrolling.
Hide Images
The hide images feature allows for hiding images and graphics on the page. This feature helps users focus on the text and reduces visual distractions while browsing.

Visually Impaired
This refers to individuals who have difficulty in seeing and identifying things or have a diminished ability to discern small details. The Tax Authority website provides several features to assist this group, including: enlarging text and images, increasing contrast, and supporting the use of screen readers or digital magnification tools to facilitate access to content and ensure clear comprehension.
Dyslexia
Support features for dyslexia focus on enhancing text clarity by using accessible fonts and increasing the spacing between characters, words, and lines. Additionally, users can enlarge text and improve contrast. These tools also help reduce distractions by simplifying content and hiding visual effects, thereby enhancing readability and overall understanding.
(ADHD)
The Tax Authority website supports users with ADHD by minimizing distracting elements, simplifying content, and organizing text with appropriate spacing to improve focus and concentration during browsing
Seizure & Epilepsy
The website provides several features that enable individuals with seizures or epilepsy to access content easily. These features include avoiding triggering visual effects, such as flashing lights or repetitive patterns, and providing a safe and easy design to-navigate, reduce eye strain and allow for full control over the content.
Color Blind
The website supports users with color blindness to ensure they can access content easily. This is achieved by using high color contrast and ensuring that information is not conveyed through color alone, but also through the use of supplementary symbols or text.
Cognitive Education
The website supports cognitive education by designing clear, organized content that is easy to understand and recognize. Additionally, multiple methods are used to clarify information such as: text, images, and videos which contribute to the development of critical thinking, problem-solving, and a deep understanding of information.
Impaired Mobility
The website supports individuals with impaired mobility by facilitating navigation and device control without the need for precise movements. This enables them to interact with digital content and participate in educational activities easily.
