The Tax Authority Organizes a Workshop on Tax Services for Sanad Offices

In line with ongoing efforts to enhance the efficiency of Sanad Offices, empower them to navigate modern tax systems, and improve the quality of services provided to the business sector, the Tax Authority organized a workshop titled "Tax Services in the Sultanate of Oman." The workshop held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research Analysis, and Innovation, targeted representatives from various Sanad offices.
The workshop axes were presented by specialists from the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion (MoCIIP). They highlighted joint coordination mechanisms between relevant authorities to facilitate and streamline tax procedures and enhance the efficiency of digital commercial transactions.
The workshop sought to strengthen the operational efficiency of Sanad Offices by focusing on digital transformation. Therefore, the electronic services available through the Tax Authority portal and the mechanisms for filing income tax returns
were showed.
For legislative aspect, the workshop addressed the provisions for implementing Income Tax and Value Added Tax (VAT), clarifying the legal frameworks with which taxpayers must comply. Also, the importance of maintaining financial and tax integrity was discussed to urge the attendees to cease using personal bank accounts for business transactions. Business owners were directed to adopt official commercial accounts to ensure compliance with approved accounting standards.
Furthermore, the workshop reviewed Excise Tax, including its core concepts, tax rates, and the list of excise goods. The workshop also highlighted the Digital Tax Stamps (DTS) project and its significant role in consumer protection.
