Tax Authority Conducts Specialized Workshop on "Withholding Tax" for Government Entities

The Tax Authority organized a specialized workshop titled "Withholding Tax".   The workshop targeted financial officers and internal audit personnel from various government entities.

The workshop aimed to enhance awareness of withholding tax among government bodies, ensuring its proper implementation and improving levels of tax compliance across these institutions.

The session featured a comprehensive and intensive presentation covering several key pillars. It began with an introductory overview of withholding tax, specifying taxable scope and services, and explaining calculation methodologies. It also clarified the entities obligated to withhold tax and reviewed relevant legal articles and provisions under the Income Tax Law. Furthermore, the workshop addressed international tax treaties, mechanisms to avoid double taxation, and detailed the procedures for registration, filing tax returns, and tax collection.

The workshop concluded with an interactive Q&A session that focused on the practical application of withholding tax and addressed participants' inquiries.

In this context, Mr. Omar bin Ali Al-Washahi, Director of the Tax Audit Department for Large Taxpayers, emphasized the crucial role of such meetings in strengthening institutional integration and cooperation between the Tax Authority and various government bodies, thereby contributing to the governance of financial procedures and achieving the highest levels of efficiency and compliance.
