Tax Awareness Workshop at Al Dhahirah Chamber

The Tax Authority, in collaboration with the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) branch in Al Dhahirah Governorate, organized a workshop on tax awareness and the promotion of voluntary compliance. The event was held for entrepreneurs and owners of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) across the Wilayats of Al Dhahirah Governorate.
Ahmed Al Hinai, Senior Tax Awareness Analyst at the Tax Authority, showed a presentation on the Value Added Tax (VAT) law. He defined the tax imposed on all supplies of goods and services in the Sultanate of Oman, explaining the VAT mechanism, types of supplies, tax rates, and tax-exempt supplies. He also presented practical examples regarding the reverse charge mechanism and the tax due date.
Later, Mazen Al Abri, a Tax Auditor at the Tax Authority, presented a working paper on the VAT registration mechanism. He clarified who is required to register in VAT and demonstrated the components of annual revenues, which include the value of supplies for registration purposes and tax groups.
Additionally, Maryam Al Manthari, a Tax Auditor at the Tax Authority, presented a working paper on the mechanism of filing tax returns.
In conclusion, all inquiries and questions from the attendees were addressed, covering everything related to taxes, the challenges entrepreneurs face in applying VAT and Income Tax, and how to pay taxes electronically.
