The Tax Authority Organizes Awareness Workshop for Social Media Influencers on Tax Compliance

As part of the Tax Authority's strategy aimed at strengthening cooperation with various segments of the tax community, and continuing its efforts to enhance tax awareness and culture by diversifying and expanding internal and external communication channels; it organized an awareness workshop targeting social media influencers. The workshop aimed to raise awareness regarding tax obligations and enhance compliance among advertising and promotion service providers with the tax systems and laws applicable in the Sultanate of Oman.

Mahmoud Al-Rabaani, Director General of Taxpayer Services and Operations GD emphasized in his opening speech the vital role that advertising and promotion activities play in enhancing the business environment and stimulating economic activities. Following the opening speech, an intensive program was presented by Ali Al-Maimani, Director of Al Batinah South Governorate Office, and Omar Al-Washahi, Director of Large Taxpayer Audit Department. The program combined theoretical presentations with practical applications to clarify the duties and obligations associated with practicing advertising and promotion activities.

Furthermore, the workshop included a comprehensive review of two main pillars: Corporate Income Tax and Value Added Tax (VAT), focusing on registration procedures, the obligations, and the legal consequences of tax evasion. The program also featured open discussion sessions during which participants were given the opportunity to ask questions and receive answers from specialists.
