The Tax Department in Al Batinah South Educates the Future Generation with the Tax System

In continuation of the efforts to raise the level of tax awareness and to promote the importance of taxes as a fundamental pillar in building a sustainable economy in line with Oman Vision 2040, the Tax Department in Al Batinah South Governorate organized an awareness seminar on taxes in the Sultanate of Oman, targeting students of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences in Al-Mussanah branch. The seminar was presented by Mr. Asaad Al Balushi and Ms. Haniya Al Malki.

The seminar began with a comprehensive presentation that reviewed the tax system in the Sultanate of Oman, with a focus on the rights and obligations of taxpayers. Then, an introduction to the types of taxes was showed, starting with income tax in terms of the categories to which it applies and the methodologies for calculating the tax, followed by the excise tax and the value-added tax, with an explanation of the application method for each and the economic sectors they cover. Light was also shed on tax evasion practices and their legal consequences. At the end of the seminar, the participating students' inquiries were answered and a number of issues related to the tax field were discussed.
